The main purpose of my venture into Seoul last weekend was to check out the Tim Burton exhibition at the Seoul Museum of Arts. The show was interesting. It gave a comprehensive progression of Burton’s work and working process. There were maquettes, sketches, animation shorts and movie props. Also, there was a good deal of merchandise for the consumer culture that was eating it up.
The crowds were insane and I lost patience following the slow procession around the work. To give an idea of the volume, I had to get a “waiting ticket” and wait just over an hour for my turn to go in. I’ve been in crowded galleries before but never anything like this.
